Brokers face a higher bond floor from October, and small filers will feel it first

The continuous bond minimum moves to $75,000, and sureties are already repricing renewals for single-office brokerages.

LOS ANGELES — The continuous bond minimum rises to $75,000 on 1 October, and sureties have begun repricing renewals ahead of the change.

For a single-office brokerage the practical effect is a premium increase of a few thousand dollars a year plus, in several cases we reviewed, a fresh collateral requirement.

Larger filers were already above the floor. This is a small-filer cost, and it lands in the same quarter as the de minimis rewrite.
